Glee is a musical TV series set in a high school in Lima, Ohio, USA, first broadcast in 2009. Created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Ian Brennan, Glee is often compared to movie High School Musical even though Murphy states that he has never seen any movies from the High School Musical franchise.
The series features covers of numerous songs, which are 'sung' by the cast, and strives to maintain a balance between chart and show tunes, the idea being that should be something for everyone in each episode.
Cast members include Matthew Morrison, who plays Will Schuester, the school's Spanish teacher, Jane Lynch as Sue Sylvester (the cheerleading squad coach) and Jessalyn Gilsig, who plays Terri Schuester, Will's wife.
Glee club members include Lea Michele who plays Rachel Berry, Cory Monteith (Finn Hudson - the star quarterback) and Kevin McHale as Artie Abrams (guitar player and paraplegic).
